Updates x 2

Hello, lovlies!

I hope all is going well. ^_^

Update #1:

Regionals was spectacular. I did not break (move on to the next level) in debate; however, I did make it to semi-finals in my After Dinner Speech (it was filmed and you may have access to it in the near future).

EDIT: It’s up on YouTube! Excuse my insane eyebrow movement and fairly fast pace… and face. Anyway, here ’tis!

Here are some pictures to prove that I had a wonderful time (more coming soon [maybe]), courtesy of Sarah Mackenzie whose blog you should totally check out (and if her URL doesn’t draw you in, maybe these pictures will):

And, of course, speech and debate tournaments call for a massive consumption of caffeine (due to no sleep, up at 6:00 a.m, and bed anywhere between 10 and 12. For three days.). My mother (bless her precious heart) knew this and took the liberty of buying me a s’mores (S’MORES!) frapp. This led to a Starbucks-themed photoshoot which resulted in a .gif which tells the story of three heartbroken young maidens as they realize

there is no more coffee.

I'm waiting for Starbucks to call and see if we're interested in marketing for them.

Update #2:

I finally changed the blog name! Here’s to hoping you like it now and I will like it in a few years. 😉 Please bear with me as I make this transition and try to correct all the links.

Before I go, however, I would like to direct you to a sweet blog. The owner is a mother of 5 (her oldest child is 5 years old) and her husband just got diagnosed with stage IV Melanoma. I’ve followed it for a while and can tell you that it’s one of the most comforting blogs on the internet. Please be praying for their family and, if you have the chance, comment over there to let them know.

God bless!

Hi. I’m Awkward

So I’m wasting my life watching Messy Mondays videos (if you don’t know who they are, go check out their website — http://www.blimeycow.com/).

I’ve been watching them for a very long time.

Maybe years.

Probably years.

Anyway, I remembered a little story that I’m hoping will make you smile and bring a little bit of confidence and self-assurance to your life. May you never be as strange as I am. Because I will most likely get jealous depending on your style of awkward.

If I can have friends, anyone can have friends.

While I was at that two-week debate camp that I referenced to a couple of posts ago, three girls and I decided to do a photoshoot. Fun, right? I was fixing this one girl’s hair and this dude walked by (I’m pretty sure he worked on-campus – he might have been in his early to mid-twenties) and I blurted out, “I like your hair! …But I’m not going to touch it.”

And I’m pretty sure his train of thought went from, “aw, what a sweet girl” to “what a creeper. I need to get away,” in maybe 0.2 seconds.

He just kind of went, “Thanks! …Uh, thanks. Let’s, uh, keep it that way.”

And he scurried away.

Thanks for letting me waste a minute of your time, lovely. 🙂

Here are some pictures from the shoot.

Oh, wait. I just saw that Robin Williams just died. I’m crushed. Let’s all take a moment to reflect on this man’s talent and I’ll be a Catholic and pray his soul gets to Heaven.

Okay, now I feel a bit bad for continuing, but, well… here we go. Just a side note: I usually look like an idiot. I’m being partially selective with the pix I’m posting here for obvious reasons. 😛 Never mind. I’m going all out. Sorry. You get to see my true-ish-self.

We did a video to earn points. Fashion video. In the words of a friend, "Girl be like: I did my own makeup." I, happily, did not for this picture. My roommate did.

I Was Tagged and Shot!

Not surprising since I don’t run or work out or anything…

The lovely Lisa tagged me in her blog post and now I suppose I’m obligated to oblige and throw out the answers to the following questions. Wheeeeeeee! Here y’all go and I hope you enjoy! 😀

Following the questions are a few “awkward family photos” taken with (possibly, maybe — not sure yet. We stayed up ’till 3:00 yesterday/this morning and it’s almost 11:00 now, so we’ll see how this goes) and by my bestie, Sara! Enjoy!

1. What are your top five favorite novels?

Why do you do this to me? *groans* Well… for starters: anything by Mirriam Neal (Paper Crowns, Paper Hearts, This Mortal Coil, The Shadows Fall, Accesso, Disconnect, everything!), The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien and The Children of Hurin, also by J.R.R. Tolkien, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court by Mark Twain, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we’ll stop now since I named a ton of Mirriam’s stuff. xD

2. What style do you enjoy writing in the most?

Styles vary from writer to writer. I wasn’t aware there were names/categories for them…

3. Whose writing to you admire the most?

I admire many authors, and they’re all very different. I admire Mirriam’s a lot and also Sara’s.

4. What is the thing that prevents you most from writing?

Me. Me and school and people and life.

5. What is your favorite WIP?

Well, I have a lot. I’ve kind of put everything on hiatus for a while since I’ve got he Block, but I’ve started editing The Reset. I love that novel. ❤

6. What is your nickname?

…My first name consists of four letters. But, you know, people will shorten it if they can. Some have called me “Ran (pronounced like ‘wren’).” My bestie has dubbed me “Dana (that resulted from a typo)” and “Chewy (think Chewbaca — don’t know how that started).” Random people also call me “Red” or “Ginger.” How creative.

7. How many siblings do you have?

Two. An older brother and a younger sister.

8. If you could visit anywhere, where would you visit?

If we’re choosing from this dimension and reality, then I would say the British Isles. I would be content to land anywhere in that region. <– Mirriam’s answer sums it up for me.

9. How many writing blogs do you follow?

A few.

10.  If you had to choose between Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston, who would you pick?

Don’t objectify them; however, if I had to choose, I’d probably go with Tom Hiddleston. I do admire Benedict Cumberbatch, but here are my reasons for choosing the latter of the two options.

One: Tom seems like more of a polite guy. Benedict is a classy gentleman, but Martin Freeman (oh, that King of Sass) has rubbed off on him, causing him to swear a lot. I’m not overtly sensitive to curse words, but I try to stay away from them.

Two: Tom seems like he’d respect me just because I’m a person. I’m not saying Benedict won’t, but Tom just seems more likely to give people the time of day.

Three: He seems so sweet and I’d like the opportunity to let him know I appreciate his standing up for classiness, respect for women and men alike, and just his respectable, thoughtful, humble, and hopeful outlook on life.

Well, that’s that. Now here’s some pix.

Hey, it’s Sara and her dog, Zoe.

I think I look like this a lot. I’m a confused person.

Okay, so some weren’t so awkward. But those are my favorites of me. I’ll leave my bestie out. She thinks I love her dogs. I’m more of a cat person. I don’t mind dogs as long as they’re hot, don’t stink, don’t lick back, don’t make noise, and are dead. Or, you know, at a distance. I can stand dogs if they’re old and well-behaved. I don’t like them licking me and stuff. *cringes*

God bless and goodnight!

Is it a bad idea to watch Signs before you go to sleep?

Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving because I know I sure did!

I crocheted an owl hat for my baby cousin (everyone loved it!) and now her parents want some. O_O So I’ll be making a matching owl hat for my aunt and a hawk (if I can find a pattern) for her partner. 😛

I ate food. But I didn’t go too overboard, I’m happy to say! I did eat more than I normally would, but I didn’t get sick. 🙂

I waited in the house for my bestie to arrive, while my family enjoyed a bonfire and hayride.

When she got there, my friend, her family, and mine went around on a hayride. 😀 They’re so fun! ^_^

Sarah and I stayed had planned to pull off an all-nighter, but sadly, only made it ’till 3:00 a.m. We’re aiming to break our record which is 5:00 a.m. But we need loud music and a barn to dance around in. Last time we did that, we practically played RED’s “Perfect Life” on repeat and danced. Well, I can’t dance, so I’ll just say we exercised. Hard.

We arose at six something (originally, we were planning on getting up at five) and then Sarah’s mom drove us to Kohl’s. After that, we had a lovely breakfast at First Watch. From there, we went to JC Penny and my lovely friend bought a leather jacket. And let me tell you. It’s flipping gorgeous.

Pictures of it on me (I’m a thief. Sue me.) to follow below.

After that, we went to Walmart and headed home.

I made it out with a sweater and sparkly blue tank top.

And now, ladies and gentlemen: the Jacket. Well, it’s more me, but we were just fooling around with the camera. 😉

And the lovely Mirriam Neal edited a couple! She’s so amazing. ❤

Let me know how your Thanksgiving went (or if you celebrated at all)! 😀

God bless!
